Japan Offers To Cover Half Your Travel Expenses To Boost Tourism

Japan Will Cover Half Of Your Travel Expenses

According to the Japan Times, the Japanese government is looking to welcome international travelers back to the country as soon as July 2020. They are planning to lure foreign visitors by covering half of their travel expenses.

This proposal comes after Japan reported a 99.9% drop in tourists for the month of April compared to the the same period last year. The program could launch as soon as July and the plan is for this to be a roughly 12.5 billion USD program. There are no details yet on how the government plans to cover half of travelers expenses, how long they’ll do so, and whether expense limits will be set.

Japan proved to be better than many countries in battling the global pandemic, thanks to early proactive measures and a culture well versed in hygiene and social distancing.

Summer Olympics scheduled for this summer will be postponed until at least 2021.

As summer season approaches, many countries are trying to figure out how to revive the travel industry. Greece has recently announced it expects to open its borders by July, Iceland said it will start welcoming tourists on June 15, Aruba expects to open by July.
